WELL BEING-P.B.L. Positive Behaviour for Learning

P.B.L. (Positive Behaviour for Learning) is an initiative we implemented at Woonona East Public School in 2013 in order to create a school environment that encouraged positive behaviours, maximised learning engagement and promoted student achievement. P.B.L. is not a pre-packaged curriculum but rather a process that is based on the needs of our school and school community to improve teacher capacity and thereby promote positive values, positive behaviours and academic success.

The key features of the framework are

  • Following defined core values based on school community beliefs:
  • RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY and RESILIENCE
  • A clear set of positive expectations and behaviours
  • A common purpose and approach to discipline
  • Procedures for teaching expected behaviour
  • Continuum of procedures for encouraging expected behaviour
  • Continuum of procedures for discouraging inappropriate behaviour
  • Procedures for on-going monitoring and evaluation
